Before I started working out at 24 hour fitness and before any personal training, I was living a very unhealthy lifestyle which included a lot of fast food, alcohol and no exercise whatsoever. I weighed about 245 pounds and was around 26% body fat. I had very high blood pressure as well as high stress causing other medical issues. I decided that I needed an extreme lifestyle change and signed up with 24 hour fitness to get back in shape. I was given a free personal training session as part of my membership which is where I was introduced to Kelley Lynch Craven.

After my first training session with Kelley, I knew that this is exactly what I needed to get my health back on track. Kelley’s workouts are the most productive workouts I have ever been through. She knew exactly what needed to be done to push me to my fitness limits. Kelley and I were able to work together to evaluate and change my fitness and diet. She gave me all the tools I needed to get my health and fitness back on track. She monitored my diet and was always available if I had any questions or concerns regarding my diet and workouts outside of our training sessions.

Now 6 months have passed working out with Kelley once a week and I am down to about 208 pounds and my body fat is at 21%. It almost seemed as if I lost 37 pounds and 5% body fat overnight. I have a new found confidence with how I look and my health issues have all been resolved.

I want to thank Kelley for pushing me and assisting me in getting my health and fitness back on track. As a team I felt that we were very successful in reaching my goals. I can’t wait to see what the next 6 months of personal training will show.

When I met Kelley, I weighed approximately 225 pounds, my highest weight ever and had very low self esteem. I was in my early thirties, had a young child, and worked part time. I was very busy and o n ly incorporated exercise into my life sporadically. I had always struggled with my weight, but kept it at controllable levels until I had my daughter. Before getting pregnant, I also went to the gym and exercised on a regular basis. After I gave birth, I also struggled with very bad knees that limited the exercising I could do.

I had signed up for training sessions at my gym hoping that would result in weight loss. The male trainer started with was OK, but I didn’t change my eating or lifestyle, so I didn’t see any results. I stopped going after a couple of months. This trainer left the gym and Kelley called me one day to book a training appointment. I did, figuring that I had a few sessions left that I already paid for and after they were done, I wouldn’t sign up again as I thought I couldn’t afford it. After my first appointment iwth Kelley, I had a new motivation I hadn’t had before. She was so professional, caring and supportive of me, and gently showed me exercises I could do. Each week that we met, she supported me in trying new, more challenging exercises and cheering me on. When the sessions expired, I didn’t hesitate to sign up for more. My health and well-being was a priority now and I needed to make it a financial priority as well.

As a few months went by, my care and concern for my body and health grew with Kelley’s guidance. I was s proud that I could be strong again, and I had lost weight. It was gradual at first, but once my mind set changed and I cared about it, I had lost all of my pregnancy weight plus about 20 pounds. In total, I lost 60 pounds working out with Kelley and changing my eating habits. But I wouldn’t have changed the eating habits if it hadn’t been for the fact that Kelley sparked my interest in really caring for myself again.

Now I am strong, don’t suffer from injuries because the muscles around the knees have become strong, and I am in the best shape of my life at 40 years old. I weigh less than I did in high school and college, and I’m able to supplement m weight training with kick-boxing and boot-camp classes, which I never could do before. I credit Kelley with helping me save my health, care about myself again and experience a quality of life and fitness I never thought possible. She’s not just a personal trainer; she’s a life-changer.

I first met Kelley as a spin instructor and thoroughly enjoyed taking her classes. She pushed you to your max while also making the class fun and different. It was no different in having her for a personal trainer. She continued to push me while also making each session fun and different from the last. I had specifically sought her out because of her knowledge in pelvic floor training following my pregnancies. She helped me immensely in breathing techniques, engaging my pelvic floors and most importantly incorporating those things into my movements. Not only did this help me inside the gym, but also in my daily life as a full time mom. There is no way around all the lifting of kids that I regularly do! All of her tools and techniques are ones that any woman can use throughout her day and really through all seasons of life. I so appreciated her encouragement and desire to see me achieve my goals which I think is the true strength of a great personal trainer.

I’ve been training with Kelley for about 1-1/2 years now. One of the big reasons for working with a trainer is that I wanted to become more fit, because I was planning to become pregnant. While I didn’t feel uncomfortable with myself at the time, I just remember being heavier as a
child through college & I knew that pregnancy was another challenging period in terms of managing weight gain during & after.

While the consistent weight training played a major role in my success, the other element is the change I made in my food and eating habits. I always ate pretty healthy prior to starting my fitness program, but instead of eating 3 primary meals a day, I adjusted to eating 5-6 times a day, with smaller portions and learned that the proper mix of protein, carbs & fat was really the key to weight loss & long term success. I exceeded my fitness goals by losing 25 pounds and 2 dress sizes within 6-8 months & I was seeing results within about 3-4 weeks after starting the program with many of my clothes becoming loose. One of the other benefits to changing my eating habits to eating 4 meals & 2 snacks is that it prepared me for pregnancy, when it is recommended to eat several mini meals which helps curb hunger & cravings, but also benefits my baby with a more even stream of nutrients.

Working with Kelley has been one of the best decisions that I’ve made – I feel great, have more energy & even more confidence in myself. She provided the encouragement & support that I needed, but also made working out fun. The workouts are always varied, so it’s never boring & she also ensures that you have proper form so that I am getting the maximum results. It has also helped me now that I am pregnant, because I am confident that I am doing exercises that are safe for me & my baby while allowing me to stay fit throughout my pregnancy. It has also helped me live a healthier lifestyle which not only is a benefit to me, but my family as well because my habits help me to cook healthier meals for my family as a whole.

I had been athletic, playing volleyball and swimming in high school and college but once I reached the professional world in my early 20’s I found it nearly impossible to get a daily work out in. My food was terrible because I had always managed my weight by my intense work outs for sports. I was in a vicious cycle of bad food and no exercise which left me feeling exhausted and fat. In time, I could no longer run a mile or do a push-up. The weekends would come and all I would want to do is sleep. Soon I found that 8 hours of sleep a night turned into 10. Before I knew it I had put on 20 pounds of unnecessary weight. My father luckily noticed the change in my personality and energy level and was courageous enough to by me 10 training sessions at 24 hour fitness in addition to paying my yearly dues. I knew that it would be an uphill battle to change my lifestyle but I also knew that I could not continue feeling lethargic and depressed. I hate to say it but the trainer I chose was not because of all her certifications and years of experience but rather she was in great physical shape and I thought if I trained with –I would look like her.

My first session, Kelley sat me down to go through my diet in addition to lifestyle and the worst part was taking my body fat. While playing sports, I was always around 17% now in my mid 20’s I was at 24%. We looked at my schedule and found no other time to work out except in the early morning so I started on my routine of training twice a week at 6:30am. In the beginning I could barely make it to the gym for an hour session but within a month I was showing up at 6am to do cardio before my training session. Kelley had helped change my diet which gave me more energy and in return helped me lose weight. After my first month I knew I had become addicted to my daily workouts. Kelley continuously challenged me to work harder during my sessions and within 8 months my body fat had decreased to 21% and I had lost 21 pounds. Kelley encouraged me to stop looking at the scale and instead look at the muscle growth and fat loss. I continued to train with Kelley for a year and a half not because I need to lose weight but because she made me feel better. After a morning training session with Kelley anyone can take on the world!

2 years after training with Kelley I am still working out 6 days a week. I am now 8 months pregnant and have found that is is no longer the vanity that makes me continue to go to the gym but instead the endorphin rush you get from having an active lifestyle. Kelley is not just a personal trainer with a goal of weight loss for her clients, she is a lifestyle trainer.
